How to Scan a Document to PDF on iPhone (Free, Best Quality)

Notes Scanner vs Dedicated Scanning Apps
iOS Notes has a built-in document scanner (tap + → Scan Documents). It's good quality, free, and creates a PDF you can share immediately. For most scanning needs, this is sufficient.
The limitation: scans are saved within a Notes note. Finding a specific scan requires remembering which note contains it, or searching Notes text that you've typed around the scan.
Nemos handles the organization layer. Scan with Notes (or Camera Continuity Scanner, or a dedicated app like Scanner Pro), then share the resulting PDF to Nemos with context. "Equipment warranty card scanned 2026-03" is findable by any of those terms.
For business documents: scan via Notes, share to Nemos, add a voice note with context (client name, document type, date). The PDF and its context are now permanently findable.

Where Nemos fits
Nemos is a private second brain for iPhone that solves the "I saved it somewhere" problem. Every screenshot, voice memo, PDF, and link you save gets OCR'd, transcribed, and indexed on-device using Apple Foundation Models. Find anything by typing one word. Free. Apple-only. Free on the App Store.
