How to Blur Sensitive Info in a Screenshot on iPhone

By ··5 min read

Blurring vs Cropping for Privacy

Blurring sensitive information before sharing a screenshot (phone numbers, addresses, financial data, private messages) is common. iOS Markup doesn't have a native blur tool.

Options for blurring: Screenshot Markup → use a filled rectangle shape in a solid color to cover sensitive areas. Not technically a blur, but effective for obscuring information. For actual blur: Snapseed (free, Google) has a selective blur tool; Blur Photo Editor (App Store) is purpose-built.

For personal captures: blurring is typically unnecessary. If you're capturing a screenshot for your own reference in Nemos, the full unobscured version is more useful — you want to be able to read the sensitive details you're capturing. Privacy is handled by Nemos's on-device storage, not by obscuring the content.

Blur before sharing with others; keep originals in Nemos for personal reference.
