Does ChatGPT See My iPhone Screenshots?

By ··5 min read

How ChatGPT Accesses Images on iPhone

ChatGPT on iPhone can see images you explicitly share in a conversation: tap the attachment icon, select a photo or screenshot from Photos, and ChatGPT analyzes it. This is intentional, user-initiated sharing.

ChatGPT does not passively access your camera roll, screenshots folder, or files. No background access exists. Every image ChatGPT sees, you deliberately shared in that session.

The distinction matters because Nemos screenshots are stored in Nemos's on-device app container, not in Photos. ChatGPT has no access to Nemos captures. To share a Nemos capture with ChatGPT: export it from Nemos, then share to ChatGPT manually.

For sensitive captures: keeping them in Nemos rather than Photos provides an additional layer of separation from AI systems that access your Photos library.
