Private Alternative to Granola for Meeting Notes

By ··5 min read

Why Granola Requires the Cloud

Granola sends your meeting audio to its servers for processing. This is a known architectural choice — cloud processing enables the AI enhancement that makes Granola valuable. The trade-off: audio leaves your device.

For meetings involving client confidentiality, privileged communications, healthcare discussions, or sensitive business information: cloud audio processing may be inappropriate or prohibited.

Nemos provides on-device meeting notes capture without sending audio to any server. Before or during meetings: voice-capture key points as they happen. Post-meeting: voice-capture a 60-second summary with decisions and action items. Transcription processes locally via Apple's on-device speech recognition.

The output is less polished than Granola's AI-enhanced notes — but it's private. For most use cases, your own summary captures (who decided what, what happens next) are more useful than a full verbatim meeting transcript anyway.
