How to Migrate from Todoist to Apple Reminders

Todoist to Apple Reminders migration: export your Todoist tasks, then manually recreate or import them. There is no direct one-click import from Todoist to Apple Reminders. For small task lists: retype or use copy-paste. For large libraries: use the Todoist CSV export with a conversion script.
Export from Todoist
Todoist Export: Settings > Backups > Create Backup (for Pro users) or use the CSV export via the web app. Free accounts can export through the API or by using Todoist’s data export page.
The export format: CSV with columns for task name, due date, priority, project, section, labels, and notes.
Import Options for Apple Reminders
Apple Reminders has no CSV import. Options:
Manual re-entry: best for small task lists under 50 items. Open Reminders, create matching lists, retype key tasks.
Shortcuts automation: Apple Shortcuts can read CSV files and create reminders. Search the Shortcuts Gallery for "CSV to Reminders" shortcuts created by the community.

Differences to Expect
Apple Reminders is simpler than Todoist. Features you lose: subtask nesting beyond two levels, labels/tags (Reminders has no tags), Karma productivity scoring, natural language entry for complex due dates, and Todoist’s filters for advanced task queries.
Features Apple Reminders has that Todoist does not: Siri integration works natively without setup, Apple Watch complication by default, focus mode integration in iOS 26.
Why People Switch
Primary reasons: eliminate subscription cost (Todoist Pro is $5/month), reduce apps for Apple-only users, better Siri integration, and willingness to simplify to a less powerful but free tool.
Migrating Tasks vs Migrating the System
Todoist migration is technically simple (export as CSV, import via third-party tools). The harder part: Todoist power users have built workflows around labels, filters, and recurring tasks that don't map cleanly to Reminders' simpler model.
Practical decision: if you used Todoist for simple task lists, Reminders handles everything you need. If you used Todoist for complex project management with nested subtasks and custom views, the gap is real.
During migration: don't try to recreate Todoist's structure in Reminders. Start fresh — what are your actual active commitments? Use Nemos as a temporary capture tool during transition.
